Detailed Community Engagement
The Hingham Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has commenced the final aspect of Stage One: detailed public engagement. The purpose of this exercise is to obtain views and ideas from the community as a whole. This process has started with members of the Steering Group approaching various community groups in the Parish and their assistance and co-operation is greatly appreciated.

First Event Review
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Neighbourhood Plan drop-in session. We had 66 residents come along and share their views. We have collated the information we gathered from the participants. You can read it below, or download it as a pdf. General comments What’s special about Hingham? A fantastic historical centre – with really good provision of services (primary school, surgery, shops and pub) Excellent health provision New builds and estates an eyesore. Already enough buildings gone up in the past few years Good facilities. Great GP surgery. Lovely friend town Don’t ruin a lovely small town […]
First event scheduled: 19th March
We’ve organised our first public event, which is where you can come along and have your say, ask questions, or meet the volunteers working on the Plan.Come along to Lincoln Hall on Saturday 19th March between 10am and 2pm.In the meantime, tell us YOUR vision for Hingham. Steering group volunteers recruited
Following distribution of the leaflet to invite volunteers we are delighted to have had a group of residents come forward to offer their time, knowledge and skills.Three Councillors will sit on the Steering Group in order to facilitate the project, and we start off with eleven volunteers and a handful of ‘reserves’ too. Many, many thanks to all those who’ve volunteered.
Leaflet distribution
Members of the Town Council and volunteers have started delivering the leaflet which tells the community about the Neighbourhood Plan. You should get yours within the next few days. If you haven’t had a leaflet by January 17th then get it touch with your address and we’ll make sure you get one. We’ll leave a few leaflets in public places, shops, the library and so on for those who work or visit Hingham but don’t live here. The development of the plan will affect anyone who comes to Hingham regularly.
Neighbourhood Plan Area
Hingham Town Council applied to South Norfolk Council to designate the area our Neighbourhood Plan will cover. South Norfolk Council have accepted the proposal. You can see what Hingham’s boundary is, for the purposes of the NP, below.
