Minutes 4th October 2023

The Steering Group is busy reviewing responses from the initial consultation of the Draft Plan. The next phase is to consider if any of the consultee responses require inclusion to the Draft Plan during the Amendments process.

Minutes 23rd May 2023

The Steering Group considered last-minute amendments to the Draft Plan as it nears the publication deadline. Arrangements were confirmed for the public consultation events. The idea of a Community Land Trust was considered, with the consultants explaining how this might impact the plan.

Minutes 25th April 2023

The Steering Group covered a number of admin affairs, such as finances (managing grants, some of which have expenditure cut-offs) and the very many edits and updates to the Draft Plan. There were also updates on the investigation into possible car park sites, and response to letters from a resident regarding road safety.

Dates for your Diary

The public consultation on the Draft Hingham Neighbourhood Plan kicks off on July 3rd with a drop-in event where you can view the plan, chat to members of the steering group and comment on the plan. Join us at the Hingham Sports and Social Club from 1pm to 8pm on Monday 3rd of July.

Minutes 22nd March 2023

This month's meeting of the Neighbourhoos Plan Steering Group covered revisions and updates to include in the Draft Neighbourhood Plan, a discussion of views (to be protected from development) and non-heritage assets. There was also a very long discussion regarding road safety and pedestrian access in response to correspondence from a resident.

Minutes 28th February 2023

The draft plan is almost complete. The Steering Group are collating the additional research, studies, and other necessary background paperwork in order to present the full draft to Hingham Town Council for approval. Next step: public consultation!

There was lots to discuss this month. The various policies (parking, development design, sustainability and so on) as well as green spaces, non-designated heritage assets and views.

Update February 2023

The Steering Group continue to work on the draft policy document which will become the Hingham Neighbourhood Plan, to guide future development within Hingham. Various studies and work by third parties are ready or nearing completion. It's all good progress.

UPDATE JANUARY 2023

Though the Steering Group did not have an official meeting in December there is still plenty going on. The research and background data gathering continues and there is progress towards a final document which will be then shared with the community.

Call for sites

We are issuing a Call for Sites to any landowners who may have land available which could potentially enable the town to supply amenities which we currently lack. This could be a car park, green spaces, recreational areas, or any of the many facilities our town might benefit from.

The household and business surveys are now closed. The response rate was a little over a quarter of households in the town.

Minutes 26th April 2022

The Steering Group met in April to hear from our consultants regarding non-designated heritage assets, green spaces, and site allocations. These are all things the community needs to understand in order to build the best Neighbourhood Plan for Hingham. They also covered a round up of the community and business engagement so far.

Detailed Community Engagement

The Hingham Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has commenced the final aspect of Stage One: detailed public engagement. The purpose of this exercise is to obtain views and ideas from the community as a whole. This process has started with members of the Steering Group approaching various community groups in the Parish and their assistance and co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Minutes of the Inaugural Steering Committee Meeting

Held on Monday 21 February 2022 at 7.45pm in the Lincoln Hall. After introductions and declarations of interest, people were elected to key roles (chair, secretary etc.) The whole process was outlined, followed by next steps.

First Event Review

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Neighbourhood Plan drop-in session. We had 66 residents come along and share their views. We have collated the information we gathered from the participants. You can read it below, or download it as a pdf. General comments What’s special about Hingham? Steering group volunteers recruited

Following distribution of the leaflet to invite volunteers we are delighted to have had a group of residents come forward to offer their time, knowledge and skills.Three Councillors will sit on the Steering Group in order to facilitate the project, and we start off with eleven volunteers and a handful of ‘reserves’ too.Many, many thanks to all those who’ve volunteered.

Leaflet distribution

Members of the Town Council and volunteers have started delivering the leaflet which tells the community about the Neighbourhood Plan. You should get yours within the next few days. If you haven’t had a leaflet by January 17th then get it touch with your address and we’ll make sure you get one. We’ll leave a few leaflets in public places, shops, the library and so on for those who work or visit Hingham but don’t live here. The development of the plan will affect anyone who comes to Hingham regularly.

Neighbourhood Plan Area

Hingham Town Council applied to South Norfolk Council to designate the area our Neighbourhood Plan will cover. South Norfolk Council have accepted the proposal. You can see what Hingham’s boundary is, for the purposes of the NP, below.
