The Steering Group is busy reviewing responses from the initial consultation of the Draft Plan. The next phase is to consider if any of the consultee responses require inclusion to the Draft Plan during the Amendments process.
The Steering Group considered last-minute amendments to the Draft Plan as it nears the publication deadline. Arrangements were confirmed for the public consultation events. The idea of a Community Land Trust was considered, with the consultants explaining how this might impact the plan.
The Steering Group covered a number of admin affairs, such as finances (managing grants, some of which have expenditure cut-offs) and the very many edits and updates to the Draft Plan. There were also updates on the investigation into possible car park sites, and response to letters from a resident regarding road safety.
This month’s meeting of the Neighbourhoos Plan Steering Group covered revisions and updates to include in the Draft Neighbourhood Plan, a discussion of views (to be protected from development) and non-heritage assets. There was also a very long discussion regarding road safety and pedestrian access in response to correspondence from a resident.
The draft plan is almost complete. The Steering Group are collating the additional research, studies, and other necessary background paperwork in order to present the full draft to Hingham Town Council for approval. Next step: public consultation!
There was lots to discuss this month. The various policies (parking, development design, sustainability and so on) as well as green spaces, non-designated heritage assets and views.
The Steering Group continue to work on the draft policy document which will become the Hingham Neighbourhood Plan, to guide future development within Hingham. Various studies and work by third parties are ready or nearing completion. It’s all good progress.

Though the Steering Group did not have an official meeting in December there is still plenty going on. The research and background data gathering continues and there is progress towards a final document which will be then shared with the community.
